Google Warns Hackers Are Using AI To Exploit Security Vulnerabilities

Google says hackers attempted to use artificial intelligence systems to identify and exploit zero-day vulnerabilities in what the company described as efforts to “plan a mass vulnerability exploitation operation.”

Google’s Threat Intelligence Group said it disrupted the activity before large-scale attacks occurred.

The development marks a significant shift in cybersecurity. AI tools are no longer supporting defensive systems alone. Attackers are beginning to use the same technology to accelerate offensive operations.

That mirrors patterns seen across other industries. Businesses adopt automation to improve speed and efficiency. Competitors often use similar tools to challenge them. Cybersecurity now appears to be entering the same cycle.

AI systems can analyse large datasets, identify patterns and process technical information rapidly. In the hands of attackers, those capabilities may shorten the time needed to discover weaknesses and coordinate attacks.
