Google Extends Fitbit Account Migration Deadline to May 2026

Google has announced an extension to the deadline for Fitbit users to migrate their accounts to Google Accounts, offering customers additional time to complete the transition. The new deadline is set for May 19, 2026, replacing the previously announced cut-off date.

The migration is part of Google’s ongoing integration of Fitbit services following its acquisition of the company. Once completed, users will access Fitbit features using a single Google login, allowing deeper integration with Google services while maintaining health and fitness tracking functionality.

Google stated that the extension was granted in response to user feedback, particularly from those concerned about data privacy, account complexity, and the time required to review new terms. The company has reiterated that users who do not complete the migration by the new deadline may lose access to certain Fitbit features.

Google has emphasised that Fitbit health data will remain separate from advertising systems and that users will retain control over privacy settings. However, some consumer groups continue to scrutinise the move, citing long-term concerns about data consolidation.

The deadline extension provides reassurance for Fitbit users who may need more time to understand the changes. It also highlights the challenges large technology companies face when integrating widely used consumer platforms into broader ecosystems.
