Rainbow Six Siege servers are back online after Ubisoft temporarily shut them down in response to a major exploit that disrupted the game’s in game economy and account systems across all platforms.

The incident was triggered by a widespread breach affecting the game’s Marketplace, which resulted in some players suddenly receiving either zero credits or vast amounts of in game currency. In extreme cases, accounts were flooded with billions of credits, ultra rare weapon skins appeared in inventories, and some accounts were mistakenly banned or reinstated.

The issue escalated quickly, forcing Ubisoft to take Rainbow Six Siege offline on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox while emergency fixes were deployed. During the outage, all servers were listed as experiencing an unplanned shutdown as the company worked to stabilise the situation.

Later that weekend, Ubisoft confirmed that testing on a corrective update had been completed and that servers were gradually reopening. The company also confirmed that a full rollback of Marketplace transactions had been carried out to restore account balances and inventories to their pre incident state. However, the Marketplace itself remains closed while further safeguards are put in place.

Ubisoft reassured players that no penalties would be applied to those who had unknowingly spent credits gained through the exploit. All affected transactions were reversed automatically, removing any advantage gained during the breach.

The rollback process required extensive quality control checks to ensure account integrity and prevent further issues. Ubisoft acknowledged that resolving the problem required caution, prioritising data accuracy over speed, which contributed to the prolonged downtime.

For players, the incident highlights ongoing challenges around live service game security and digital marketplaces. While service has been restored, the temporary closure of the Marketplace suggests Ubisoft is continuing to assess vulnerabilities to prevent similar incidents in the future.
