Meta has acquired artificial intelligence startup Manus as part of its accelerating push to strengthen AI across its consumer and business platforms. The deal reflects Meta’s growing urgency to compete more aggressively in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

While Meta has not disclosed the financial terms, the acquisition is reported to be valued at more than $2 billion. The move brings Manus, a fast growing AI platform based in Singapore, into Meta’s expanding AI ecosystem.

Manus launched its first general purpose AI agent earlier this year, offering tools designed for tasks such as research, coding, and productivity. The platform operates on a subscription model and has seen rapid adoption, with millions of users and businesses already relying on its services. Earlier this month, Manus revealed it had surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue just months after launch.

Meta has said it plans to scale Manus’ technology across its products, integrating general purpose AI agents into both consumer services and enterprise tools, including Meta AI. At the same time, Manus will continue to operate independently, maintaining its existing app, website, and subscription services without changes to how the platform functions or is managed.

The acquisition also brings clarity around governance and operations. Following the transaction, Manus will have no remaining Chinese ownership interests and will discontinue services in China, while continuing to operate out of Singapore, where most of its workforce is based.

For Meta, the deal underscores a broader strategy to regain momentum in commercial AI. The company has been investing heavily in data, infrastructure, and talent to keep pace with rivals in generative AI and large language models. Earlier this year, Meta made a multi billion dollar investment in an AI data firm and recruited senior leadership to help drive long term ambitions around advanced AI development.

For users and businesses, the acquisition signals deeper AI integration across Meta’s platforms, with more capable assistants and automation tools likely to appear across social, messaging, and business services in the coming months.
