Google Labs introduces Doppl, an experimental AI app set to change virtual outfit try-ons. This new app lets you upload your photo and any outfit to see how it looks on you. It even generates an AI video of you and the clothing in motion.
Using Doppl is simple. Upload a full-body picture of yourself, then select photos or screenshots of outfits. You can pull images from Pinterest, clothing websites, or even snap a picture of an outfit from a thrift store or one a friend is wearing.
After choosing an outfit, Doppl, which likely stands for “doppelgänger,” creates an AI-generated image of you wearing it. It then converts that static image into a moving video. Browse outfits, save favourites, and share different looks. Google notes Doppl is in its early stages. “Doppl is in its early days and fit, appearance and clothing details may not always be accurate.”
Google recently launched a similar try-on feature within its Shopping experience, but Doppl operates as a standalone app. It offers a fun tool for social media and could help Google collect data on user buying and shopping habits. The app is out now on iOS and Android, but only in the US.
