Apple is reportedly ramping up development of a trio of AI-powered wearable devices as it looks to stay competitive in the fast-growing artificial intelligence hardware race.
According to reports from The Information and Bloomberg, Apple is accelerating work on an AI wearable pendant, smart glasses, and upgraded Air Pods all designed to integrate closely with the iPhone and Siri.
AI Pin: A Camera-Equipped Wearable
One of the devices in development is said to be an AirTag-sized AI pendant that can be pinned to a user’s shirt. The wearable would reportedly include built-in cameras and AI-powered functionality, positioning it as a contextual assistant that can interpret the user’s surroundings.
Development of this AI pin is now said to be moving faster as Apple pushes to keep pace with competitors launching similar AI-first hardware.
Smart Glasses Codenamed “N50”
Apple is also accelerating work on AI-powered smart glasses, internally codenamed N50. The glasses are expected to feature a high-resolution camera and advanced AI capabilities.
Competition in the smart glasses space is already heating up. Meta has gained early traction with its Ray-Ban smart glasses, while Snap is planning to release its “Specs” later this year.
Bloomberg reports that Apple is targeting the start of production as early as December, with a potential public release slated for 2027. The glasses are described as being “more upscale and feature-rich” than the AI pendant and AI-enhanced AirPods.
AI-Enhanced AirPods
In addition to the pin and glasses, Apple is reportedly developing AirPods with expanded AI capabilities. While details remain limited, the earbuds are expected to incorporate new intelligent features powered by on-device AI and Siri integration.
Built Around iPhone and Siri
All three devices are expected to connect seamlessly with the iPhone and rely heavily on Siri as a core part of the user experience.
As major tech companies race to define the next generation of AI-powered consumer hardware, Apple appears determined not to fall behind betting on a multi-device ecosystem strategy that blends AI, wearables, and its existing mobile platform.
